Evaluation
My
photography session on the topic ‘Lines’ was very interesting because at first
I struggled with the concept on what ‘Lines’ meant, did it mean lines of
things? People in lines? Or any lines at all? I found this quite difficult
until I settled into the vision and began to see lines everywhere, in
brickwork, shadows and even trees. It helped to focus on the architecture of
buildings as well as lines in nature. A favorite of mine in this session was
lines in brickwork.
I chose this as I loved the way the lines of
metal looked like towers and cast shadows behind them. I like the way the
shadows collide and as well as the lines of metal there is the lines of
brickwork in the background. If I could change anything about this photo it
would be to take it more straight on e.g. I would line up the bricks at the top
and at the bottom and take the photo more directly from the front as here it
looks as if the photo was taken on an angle.
I chose this as I like the way there’s loads of
lines that are interchanging around the bricks, also how the bricks form lines
in themselves. If I could change anything about this photo I would've taken it
from a straight on angle instead of with the camera pointed upwards.
Progression:
If
I could carry on with this project I would like to experiment taking photos of
people in arrangements of lines and rows. I would also like to delve further
into collections of brick work and different bricks. If I could shoot lines
again I would like to try a different setting so maybe inside instead of
outside, and focus on lines within the household and within buildings instead
of outside and architecture.
When
I thought of lines at first I pictured a railway line, how the tracks are
always parallel and will never meet separated by more lines, therefore this is something I would like to pursue on
the topic of lines, I would like to photograph the different tracks of a train
and lines to do with trains and tubes etc.
