This photograph shows the contrast of colour, the black and the white contrast because they are stark opposites.

This contrast is of something hot and something cold, even the colour of the chillies is a connotation of something hot and dangerous and the white of the ice is a cool chilled colour.

This is a contrast of old and new, the two cameras do the same thing but contrast in the way they look based on the fact that one is a antique and one is new.

This is a contrast of old and young, the contrast is shown by worn wrinkled skin  and hooded eyes contrasted to clear skin and bright eyes.

My definition: Contrast - two or multiple things that differ.

Contrast Work Diary

Evaluation
My studio photography session ended up going really well although I struggled at first because I felt the brief was quite vague. At first I could only think of basic contrast examples like tall and small but as the shoot went on I came up with the idea of Converse trainers and boots, acid wash jeans and blue jeans and one earring and five earrings. An example of contrast can be absolutely anything that is slightly different from something else. It was challenging to find enough different contrasts within a group of people to make a whole shoot because we were limited on what we could photograph however it was easier as the shoot went on. These are some of my favourite photos from my studio contrast shoot…

I like this photo because the contrast between the two hair colours is accurately represented against the bright orange background.

I chose this photograph to represent contrast because two of the girls have dark clothing and one has light this shows the contrast between light and dark.

Progression
If I could progress with the topic of contrast I definitely would. I had a specific contrast progression idea which was to focus on the contrast between unnatural and natural so photograph a range of people before and after makeovers in order to show the contrast between the two, I also want to use the idea of natural and unnatural hair colour, so artificial dyed hair and natural hair, peroxide blonde and natural blonde, then line them up to show the contrast.

This photograph represents a contrast in hair colour between the subjects, one of the girls is a brunette and one of them is a blonde, the contrast of hair colour is emphasized due to the fact they sport the same hair accessory, hair style and t-shirt.
This photograph shows contrast because it is a sort of "Before & After" shot for example in the first image the woman has her hair up and there is no trace of makeup on her face then in the second photo her hair is down and she has a full face of makeup on, this shows the contrast between before and after and also natural and unnatural.

This photograph shows contrast with the black and white stripes on the zebra, this is known as colour contrast.

This photograph shows contrast between lifestyle/social hierarchy, the rich man walks past while another rich man has his shoes cleaned by a poorer man, this shows the contrast between the poor and the rich.

This photograph is extremely stereotypical but helps to show the contrast between men and women, the woman is stood on the pink side and the man is stood on the blue side, these colours stereo-typically represent the two genders, this is a contrast between genders.

This photograph is another representation of the contrast between the rich and the poor, the poor are represented in shanty-town nature, with all the tiny homes crammed together while the rich people ravish in their major amounts of square footage, their swimming pools and tennis courts the same size as three to four homes, this is another example of a lifestyle/social hierarchy contrast.
